Myrtle Spicer, 74
Myrtle Muncie Spicer, 74, of Richmond formerly of Irvine, widow of Harvey Spicer, died Thursday Dec. 17 at St. Joseph Hospital East after a long illness. She was born March 18, 1935 in Estill County a daughter of the late James and Nettie Henry Muncie. She was preceded in death by two infant children and six brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a sister, Gracie Muncie of Richmond and several nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Cow Creek Cemetery, with Bro. Billy Wiseman officiating. There was no visitation. Lewis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Jason Dixon, 36
Jason Dixon, 36, Oak Street, Irvine, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009 at his home following a sudden illness. He was born Nov. 11, 1973 in Estill County, the son of Robert Lee Dixon and Cecile Gail Carroll Dixon. He was a construction worker and had lived in Estill County most of his life.
Survivors include his father, Robert Lee Dixon of Estill County; his mother, Cecile Gail Carroll Dixon of Hamilton, Ohio; his grandparents, Jeraldine Mansfield of Estill County and Luther Carroll of Jackson County; one daughter, Amber Neal Dixon of Estill County; one son, Jason Aaron Dixon of Estill County; two sisters, Erica Dixon of Estill County and Cristy Moore of Lee County; two brothers, Johnny Elliott of Winchester and Fairley Dixon of Estill County; his girlfriend, Tisha Burchett of Estill County.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence Dixon Jr., Goldie Mae Dixon, and Billy Earl Mansfield; and an aunt, Mary Dixon.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Glen Tipton with burial at Oak Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Fairley Dixon, Jason Aaron Dixon, Dale Richardson, Donnie Jones, Charlie Webb, John Hontsell, Jimmy Young and Elijah Begley. Honorary pallbearers were James Tipton, Andy Conner, Ervin Williams, Ivan Gordon, Danny Gabbard, Logan Mize, Bubby Woolery and Troy Moore.
Eva Lainhart, 90
Eva Lainhart, 90, of Dayton, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009 in Springmeade Nursing Home, Tipp City. She was born in Irvine on Aug. 15, 1919, the daughter of W.J. and Affie (Webb) Richardson. She was retired from Brown and Brockmeyer in Dayton, and was baptized in the Baptist Church in Irvine.
Survivors include her daughter, Veronica Cindy Lainhart of Dayton; five grandchildren, Michael Terry Konicki, Sherri Lynn Wilson, Anita Jo Kleir, William Andrew Lainhart, and Jenny Rebecca Lainhart; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Lamata (Ralph Dale) Brill and Jeanette Asbury; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Venson Franklin Lainhart; a son, Venson Lavon Lainhart; a daughter, Vida Phyllis Konicki-Wells; one brother; and three sisters.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009 at Blessing Funeral Home, Tipp City by Pastor Dewey Pope Sr. with burial at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.

Harrison Cockrell Jr., 77
Harrison Simpson Cockrell Jr., 77, of Perryopolis Penn., died Thursday Dec. 10 in Excela Health Frick Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, Penn. after an illness. He was born Aug. 12, 1932 in Irvine, a son of the late Harry S. and Betty Perry Cockrell. He was a life long member of the Irvine United Methodist Church in Irvine, a retired U. S. Navy veteran and also retired from U. S. Steel.
Survivors include a sister, Harryette Cockrell Jenkins of Holmes Beach Fla.; and two nephews, Douglas Jenkins of Fort Bragg, N.C. and Jeff Jenkins of Atlantic City N.J.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m., Thursday Dec. 17 at the Irvine United Methodist Church, by Rev. Don Hatton with burial at the Richmond Cemetery.
Lewis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Verna Murphy, 94
Verna Murphy, 94, a resident of Madison Manor in Richmond, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009 at the Compassionate Care Center after a short illness. She was born May 28, 1915 in Estill County, the daughter of the late Silas and Emmaline Lovins Carpenter. She was a homemaker and had lived in Estill County most of her life. She was a member of the South Irvine Pentecostal Church of God where she was also a member of the Ladies Circle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Murphy; three sons, Garnie B. Murphy, Arthur J. Murphy and Virgil Franklin Murphy; four sisters, Neely Logston, Nancy Ann Carpenter, Zanie Carpenter and Lucy Carpenter; four brothers, Frank, Virgil, Emmory and Bill Carpenter; and two grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Corena Murphy of California, and Zelma R. Tingle of Georgetown; two sons, Clarence Murphy Jr. of Florida, and Edward Lee Murphy of Richmond; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Dec. 17 at 11 a.m. at the South Irvine Pentecostal Church of God by Bro. Paul Arvin with burial at the South Irvine Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Eugene Miller, Richard Gault, Wade Logsdon, Marshall Kirby, Jeff Elliott and Charles Babb.
