Delores McClanahan, 86
Delores Powell McClanahan, 86, widow of Russell McClanahan Jr., died Tuesday at Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was born Nov. 29, 1923 in Estill County, a daughter of the late Austin C. Powell and Pauline Neikerk Powell. She was the retired owner of McClanahan Art Gallery and an artist. She was a member of Christ Family Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Russell, and a brother Austin “Buzzy” Elwood Powell.
Survivors include two sons Gary (Lois) McClanahan of Irvine, Dr. Russell T. (Laurelyn) McClanahan of Tallahassee Fla.; a daughter Marisa (Jack) Cahal of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren True (Tammy) McClanahan, Kim (Scott) Baker, Heather McClanahan, Amy (Andy) Snovak, Charisma Reak, Charity (Marty) Arthur, Rebecca Rogers, Joanna McClanahan, Sarah McClanahan and Matthew Cahal; nineteen great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Lewis Funeral Home by Bro. Gary McClanahan with burial at Oakdale Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Marty Arthur, John Hatfield, Lloyd King, True McClanahan, Ralph McClanahan, Andy Snovak, and Austin McClanahan.
Eugene Isaacs, 70
Eugene Isaacs, 70, Deerlick Road, Irvine, widower of Ina Lou Willis Isaacs died Friday, at St. Joseph East Hospital after a short illness. He was born Nov. 27 1939 in Estill County, a son of the late Elbert and Leatha Mae Rose Isaacs. He was a farmer and a member of the Holiness faith. He was preceded in death by a sister Wilma Lee Isaacs; and two brothers Olmie Isaacs and Charles Gradon Isaacs.
Survivors include a daughter Eugenia Lynn Isaacs (Jordan) Alexander; three sisters Alma Dean Willis, Beatrice Eileen King, and Wanda Faye Isaacs; four grandchildren Destiny Lynn Alexander, Vincent Cordell Alexander, Tomekia Ina Raine Alexander, and Jordan Starr Alexander; a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Lewis Funeral Home by Bro. Charles Whitamore with burial at the Joe Miller Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dwight Willis, Darrell Foster, Marvin Shawn Willis, Danny Lee Reynolds, Anthony Woosley, and Matthew Scott Rogers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Vincent Cordell Alexander, Bennie Alexander, Aaron Leon Alexander, Jordan Alexander, Doyle Webb, and Charlie Willis.
Christine Pollick, 48
Christine Pollick, 48, wife of Donald L. Pollick, died Tuesday at 6:31 a.m. at St. Joseph East Hospital. She was born April 26, 1961 in Irvine, a daughter of the late Elmo and Susie Wise Rogers. She was a member of First Assembly of God and attended Grace Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Rogers and Retha Rogers.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Brandon Wayne Wasson, and Donald Nicholas Pollick, both of Winchester; brothers and sisters-in-law, Oscar (Diane) Rogers of Clark County, and Austin (Norma) Rogers of Estill County; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Reva (Louis) Seaton of Lee County, Eva (Elmer) Shuler of Winchester, Sylvia (Robert) Ralston of Winchester, and Darlene (David) Reed of Estill County; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday at 11 a.m. by Bro. Pat Finley and Bro. Sherl Thomas at Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home with burial at Cobhill Cemetery in Irvine.
Nettie West, 93
Nettie Powell West, 93, Sixth Street, Ravenna, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009 at her daughter’s home in Frankfort following a short illness. She was born Jan. 12, 1916 in Estill County, the daughter of the late Harrison and Elizabeth Snowden Powell. She was a homemaker and a charter member of the Ravenna Church of the Nazarene. She was a charter member of the Estill County Historical Society, a member of the Kentucky Historical Society, a member and contributor of Gideon’s Auxiliary, and a contributor to the Alzheimer’s Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tracy West.
Survivors include three daughters, Janice Rose Miller of Richmond, Susie Ballard of Ravenna, and Tula Jane Prewitt and husband Leon of Frankfort; seven grandchildren, Gary Ballard, Randy Ballard, Michael Miller, Jon Miller, Vicki Singleton, Debbie Crawford and Ricky Prewitt; and 10 great-grandchildren; and a former son-in-law, Eddie Ballard of Irvine.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eppie Whitehouse and Delsie Smith; and three brothers Edgar, Millard and Hobert Powell; and a son-in-law, Victor Miller.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Bob Mills and Rev. Jimmy Powell with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Gary Ballard, Randy Ballard, Michael Miller, Jon Miller, Ricky Prewitt, Bill Singleton. Honorary pallbearers were the great-grandchildren.
Linda Fox, 78
Linda Rawlins Fox, 78, Sweet Lick Road, Irvine, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 at Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was born Nov. 14, 1931 in Estill County, the daughter of the late Cleveland and Sarah Ann Campbell Rawlins. She was a retired employee of Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Irvine First Church of God. She had lived in Estill County all of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glendon Fox; a daughter, Loretta Lynn Fox; a sister, Esther Riddell; and three brothers, Edward Rawlins, Kenneth Rawlins and Charlie Horn.
Survivors include a son, David Glen Fox of Estill County; one sister, Thelma Flynn of Estill County; one brother, Eugene Rawlins of Estill County; a special cousin, Hallie Spivey.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Larry Frymyer with burial at the Rawlins Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chester Horn, Denny Rawlins, Kenny Rawlins, Owen Flynn, David Spivey and Turner Rawlins.
