Betty Brandenburg, 79
Betty Ann Henry Brandenburg, 79, North Sulphur Wells Road, Irvine, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009 at her home following a long illness. She was born Dec. 11, 1929 in Estill County, the daughter of the late Willie “Buck” and Minnie Johnson Henry. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Thomas Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County all of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendall Brandenburg; a daughter, Penny Lou Brandenburg; one brother, Douglas Henry; two grandchildren, Wendall Glynn Brandenburg III, and Samantha Jo Brandenburg.
Survivors include two sons, Glynn Brandenburg and wife Donna, and Ricky Lynn Brandenburg and wife Mildred, both of Estill County; one sister, Shirley Hawkins of Winchester; three grandchildren, Michele Lee Brandenburg, Ricky Lynn Brandenburg Jr. and wife Brittany, and Noah Glenn Brandenburg; and a special nephew, David Brandenburg.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Ricky Kirby with burial at the Gould Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Shawn Brandenburg, Donald McClelland, David Brandenburg, Alan Mansfield, Donnie Ray Gadd and Jeff Napper. Honorary pallbearer was Noah Brandenburg.
Bertha Smith, 87
Bertha Mae Smith, 87, Crooked Creek Road, Irvine, wife of Harrison Smith, died Nov. 16, 2009 at Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was born Oct. 5, 1922 in Phelps, the daughter of the late Ballard and Cordella Smith. She was preceded in death by a son, Tolbert Harrison Smith; and a granddaughter, Kristi Mildred Smith Wainscott.
Survivors include a son, Robert (Janet) Smith of Irvine; and a daughter, Joyce (Audy) Estep of Phelps; three grandchildren, Patty (Tim) Fuller, Gary (Cindy) Estep, and Joy (Rob) Isom; three great-grandchildren, Amber (Jeremy) Cantrell, Shawn Fuller and Justin Estep; and one great-great-grandchild, Jayce Cantrell.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 at R.S. Jones and Son Funeral Home in Phelps with burial at the Ballard Smith Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Timothy Fuller, Shawn Fuller, Justin Estep, Gary Estep, Jeremy Cantrell and Mickey Smith.
Della Roberts, 64
Della Horn Roberts, 64, Sand Hill Road, Irvine, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009 at Irvine Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Aug. 5, 1945 in Estill County, the daughter of the late Homer and Elsie Gentry Horn. She was a homemaker and a member of the Green Pastures Worship Center. She had lived in Estill County most of her life.
Survivors include her husband, Dudley Roberts Jr.; one daughter, Linda Marcum Raymond and husband John of Estill County; three sisters, Stella Stevens and husband Lander, Opal Mullins, and Lois Fox and husband James, all of Estill County; one brother, Ronnie Horn and wife Pat of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Tiffany Young, Jennifer Young, and Monica Noland.
She was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Marcum; and a sister, Ella Horn.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Beverly Arvin and Bro. Doug Baker with burial at the Roberts Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Raymond, Steve Young, Mikie Stevens, Mike Stevens, Scotty Roberts and Josh Stevens. Honorary pallbearers were Doug Williams, Justin Roberts and Roy Stevens.
Robert Fred Riddell, 66
Robert Fred Riddell, 66, Jodi Lane, Irvine, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009 at Marcum & Wallace memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was born Jan. 13, 1943 in Estill County, the son of the late Glen and Channey Kirby Riddell. He was a retired construction worker and attended the Crystal Holiness Church. He was a member of the Irvine Masonic Lodge 137 F&AM and had lived in Estill County all of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Oleta Bailey Riddell; one daughter, Chastity Lynn King and husband Sammie of Estill County; one son, Robert Justin Riddell of Estill County; four sisters, Ruth Hall of Hamilton, Ohio, Gerry Clowers, Violet Dawes and Marcy Grace, all of Estill County; one brother, Larry W. Riddell of Estill County; two half-sisters, Della Young of Wyoming and Mildred Tolson of Danville; three half-brothers, Freddie Gilbert of Ohio, Dennis Gilbert of Lexington, and Vendell Gilbert of Irvine; one grandchild, Brittney Nicole King.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, William Lee Riddell, Kimble Riddell and Owen Riddell; and a half-brother, Elbert Gilbert.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. at the Pea Ridge Holiness Church by Bro. Jerry Rose with burial at the Pea Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Justin Patrick, Randy Lovin, Tony Murphy, Ricky Williams, Ryan Powell and Chris Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers were the Irvine Fire Department, Estill County Fire Department, Ravenna Fire Department, Estill County EMS, Estill County Sheriff’s Department, Irvine Police Department, Estill County Rescue Squad, Sammie King and Frank Johnson.
