The Estill County Health Department will hold a vaccination clinic for children nine years old and younger who need their second H1N1 vaccination on Saturday, Jan. 9 starting at 8 a.m. It is open only to children nine and under who have received their first vaccination by Dec. 12.

The Estill County Health Department will hold an H1N1 Vaccination Clinic on Saturday, Dec. 12 during the morning starting at 8 a.m. All patients will be seen on a walk-in basis. Note: This clinic will close if patient flow is not steady so plan to arrive early.
Estill Community Chorus
The Estill County Community Chorus will present their annual Christmas concert Friday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Irvine United Methodist Church, Main Street. The Estill County High School Jazz Band will play at this performance. A second performance by the chorus will be on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m., but the jazz band will not be performing at this concert. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend to help kick off the Christmas season. Admission is free. Come out and support your local musicians.
Masonic Officer’s Installation
Irvine Masonic Lodge #137 F & AM will be having their annual officer’s installation on Dec. 10, at the Lodge Building, 221 Broadway, Irvine. A potluck style meal will be served starting at 6 p.m. The public is invited. The officer’s installation will begin at 7 p.m.
Winchester GTE/Sylvania/Osram/UAW retirees will hold their monthly meeting Tuesday, Dec. 8, 11:00 AM at the Union Hall on Bloomfield Rd. Following the meeting, members and guests will travel to Hamburg Pavilion for lunch at Rafferty’s.
On Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. DAV Chapter 94 is having a potluck supper at the Senior Citizens building in Irvine. Please bring a covered dish and join us. The chapter will furnish the meat.
All Winchester GTE/Sylvania/Osram retirees are invited to a brunch at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 4. in the plant cafeteria. No RSVP is needed this year. All attendees should use the front parking lot and enter through the lobby entrance.
Body Fitness Classes

EKU Madrigal Feaste
Eastern Kentucky University will present its 35th annual Madrigal Feastes on Friday, Dec. 11, and Saturday, Dec. 12. Advance tickets for the community favorite can be purchased for $26 each in the Colonel 1 Card office, located in Room 17 on the main floor of the Powell Building. Visa and MasterCard reservations may be made by calling 859-622-2179. The University Singers, under the direction of Dr. Sue Ellen Ballard and accompanied by faculty and student instrumentalists on period instruments, will present the music for the event, which recreates the song, dance and festivities of 16th century English madrigal dinners. Guests will also enjoy a five-course meal, prepared and served by Aramark Dining Services. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with seating beginning at 6:45 p.m. The first fanfare will sound at 7 p.m. Proceeds from the event benefit the EKU Department of Music.
Basic Computer Skills Class
This four-evening session is for those who need to learn or review basic fundamental computer skills or terminology. Through hands-on experience, we will cover basic tools to access the internet, create simple letters and reports, practice using tool bars, creating files, setting up email accounts and much more. You may register at the Estill County Community Education office or by calling 723-2181, ext. 226. Class cost $25 and all materials are included. Dec. 3, 6-8 p.m.; Dec. 8 6-8 p.m.; Dec.15, 6-8 p.m.

The Appalachian Dulcimer Club is offering Free lessons on Fridays at 5 p.m. at the Estill County Public Library. The only requirement is to bring your own dulcimer.

Boy Scout Round Up
Boy Scout Troop 144 invites all 11 year old and older boys to come check out the Boy Scouts. The Estill County Community Food Bank needs to stock the shelves of the pantry. A collection container will be located in the Extension Office and other places where donations of non-perishable items (canned, boxed foods, etc.) may be dropped off. Please help support this worthy program to help the less fortunate.
Mommie and Me
Mommie and Me Storytime groups will be every Wednesday at 10 a.m. and every Friday at 10:30 a.m. These groups are for children ages 2 through 5. Bring your child to the library for a story, an art activity, and a snack. Call 723-3030 for more information.
