Seasonal Flu Clinic
The Estill County Health Department has received more SEASONAL flu vaccine and has scheduled a Seasonal Flu Shot Clinic Tuesday, Nov.17, at Estill County Health Department from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Flu shots will be given on a walk-in basis. No appointment is needed.
H1N1 Vaccination Clinic
The Estill County Health Department has scheduled an H1N1 Vaccination Clinic for the following priority groups:
•Household contacts and caregivers of children younger than 6 months of age (ex: parents, siblings, and daycare providers)
•Persons from 6 months through 24 years of age
•Health Care and Emergency Medical Services personnel
•Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have medical conditions associated with a higher risk of influenza complications
The clinic will be held Saturday, Nov.14 at the Estill County Middle School starting at 8 a.m. If you are not in one of these groups then this clinic is not for you. Please wait until a clinic for your group is announced.
The Estill County Community Food Bank will have a food drive Saturday, Nov. 14 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Student Council from the Estill County Middle and High School and the FBLA club will be at local stores in the community accepting monetary and/or food donations. Please join in to continue to help families in Estill County.

Gingerbread House Contest
As the Estill County FBLA celebrates the holiday season with their annual Light Up Rivertown, all children are invited to participate in the gingerbread house contest. The only rules are to be creative and to have your delectable creation turned in at the courthouse before noon on Saturday, Nov. 21, to be judged. The competition is for children of all ages, no adults can enter. So gather up your candy canes and gumdrops; and come on out to show your creative holiday spirit.
Legion Post 79
The American Legion Post 79 will have dinner on Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. A service to honor departed veterans will be at 5 p.m. at the American Legion Post.
Senior Center Yard Sale
The Estill County Senior Citizen Center on Stacy Lane is having a yard sale Nov. 12 and Nov. 13 to raise money to help support the many programs they have for seniors in Estill County.
The Estill County Historical and Genealogical Society Christmas meeting will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at the Estill County Historical and Genealogical Society’s Research Center and Museum at 6 p.m. Please bring a covered dish. There will be a silent auction.
The Appalachian Dulcimer Club is offering Free lessons on Fridays at 5 p.m. at the Estill County Public Library. The only requirement is to bring your own dulcimer.
3rd Annual Mitchell Bedford Memorial Chess Tournament hosted by the Winchester/Clark Co. Parks & Recreation Chess Club
Open division: registration fee of $12 ($20 after 11/12) with prizes of 60 percent to 1st, 20 percent to 2nd, 10 percent to top U1300. Light Up Rivertown
On Saturday, Nov. 21, the Estill County FBLA will host their 10th annual Light up Rivertown. This year’s activities include live entertainment, a Christmas craft fair, horse drawn carriage ride, and many other events. The craft fair will start at 10 a.m. Booths are still open to anyone who wants to display their crafts. Call Ms. Witt, 723-3537 during the school day. The carriage ride is free with a non-parishable food donation to Estill County Food Bank. The Estill/Powell counties Kentucky ASAP (Agency on Substance Abuse Policy) Board will be providing a series of five parenting classes for free. Leaders will use the evidence-based curriculum, Guiding Good Choices, geared for parents and caregivers of children ages 9-14 years of age. Classes will be held every Tuesday at the Ravenna Church of the Nazarene from 6:30-8 p.m. through Nov. 23. Boy Scout Round Up
Boy Scout Troop 144 invites all 11 year old and older boys to come check out the Boy Scouts. Financial Peace Classes
Financial Peace Classes meet every Wednesday for 12 weeks from now to Dec. 2 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Estill County Library. To register call 859-624-4116, ext. 306. There is no cost to residents of Estill, Powell, Madison or Clark counties (a service of foothills CAP).
The Estill County Community Food Bank needs to stock the shelves of the pantry. A collection container will be located in the Extension Office and other places where donations of non-perishable items (canned, boxed foods, etc.) may be dropped off. Please help support this worthy program to help the less fortunate.
Mommie and Me
Mommie and Me Storytime groups will be every Wednesday at 10 a.m. and every Friday at 10:30 a.m. These groups are for children ages 2 through 5. Bring your child to the library for a story, an art activity, and a snack. Call 723-3030 for more information.
