1 killed in accident on Richmond Rd
A local woman was killed in an automobile accident on Richmond Road last week.
A press release from the Kentucky State Police Post 7, said that at just after noon on Thursday, Jan. 24, officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 52 (Richmond Road).
Witnesses told police the woman, Stephanie Schnittker, 75, of Eades Drive, was traveling eastbound on Richmond Road when she lost control of her vehicle. She crossed into the pat of a seven-passenger van driven by Steven Darbyshire, also of Irvine.
Darbyshire was transporting employees for Trane westbound on the roadway.
Schnittker was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by an Estill County Deputy Coroner.
Darbsyhire and each of his seven passengers were transported to “local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries,” according to the press release.
Trooper Phillip Powell and Trooper Eric Taylor assisted Trooper Ken Bradley at the scene. At press time, results of an autopsy on Schnittker were not available.
The accident is still under investigation by Bradley.
