History was made on Monday night when the Estill High boys soccer program scored their first ever district tourney victory.
The 2-0 win over Berea propelled Coach Tim Tipton’s team into a 28th District championship match-up tonight (Wednesday) against Madison Central.
The Engineers fell to Central 3-0 at home late in the season.
Central has reeled off 11 straight wins after falling to Anderson County in their season opener.
Estill closed out regular season action with wins over Bath County (4-1), and Jackson City, (10-0).
Tipton enters tonight’s game with cautious optimism.
“Central is the team to beat, but if we play them the way we played in regular season, who knows, we could get the ‘W’,” he notes.
With a record now standing at 12-7-2, and after having gone toe-to-toe with some top-ranked teams, Tipton says he is thankful for the support of everyone who has been a part of elevating the program.
“It has been a long time coming, but we are playing with some of the best teams in the state,” he says.
