St. Elizabeth
Basement Sale
St. Elizabeth’s will have their basement sale Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Thursday, Feb. 2, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There will be clothes and a lot of nice items.
4-H Valentine for Veterans Workshop
There will be a Valentine for Vets workshop for 4-Hers between the ages of 5 – 18, Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 3:45 p.m.This workshop is free and will be held at the Estill County Extension Office. Valentines will be made to send to the Lexington VA Medical Center in honor of National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans Week of Feb. 12 – 18.
Attention Veterans
A Veterans Benefits Field Representative will be at the National Guard Armory, 335 Cow Creek Road, Ravenna, on the first Thursday of each month, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Veterans and their dependents will receive assistance filing for Federal and State veterans benefits. This service is provided free of charge by the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs. Retirement Reception
Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital and King & Points Rehab Services will host a community reception in honor of physical therapist, Jim Click’s, 25 years of service to the community, on Tuesday, Jan. 31, from 4-6 p.m., at the hospital. The public is invited to attend.
Appalachian
Culture Night
The Estill County High and Middle schools academics teams will have the eighth annual Appalachian Culture Night on Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. at the Estill Middle cafeteria. Dale Pyatt of the Chicken Grease Band will entertain. A meal of barbeque on bun, slaw, chips, drinks and dessert will be served for $8 and their will also be a silent auction. All proceeds will benefit the academics teams. Everybody is invited.

County Schools
Community Education, a program of the Clark County Schools, is offering State Registered Nurse Aide Training on Saturdays, Feb. 25 – April 28, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Clark Area Technology Center, 650 Boone Avenue. There will be a Madison-Estill Grain Production meeting Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 6 p.m., at the Madison County Extension Office, 230 Duncannon Lane, Richmond. There will be a sponsored meal. To pre-register, call 723-4557.

USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Kentucky, reminds producers they have until Monday, Jan. 30, to submit an application for payment under the 2011 Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honey Bees, and Farm-raised Fish Program (ELAP). Genealogical Society
The Estill County Historical and Genealogical Society will meet Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the Estill County Public Library at 7 p.m., for “Show and Tell.” Volumes I and II of the Cemetery Books are available at the museum on Saturdays. In addition, the 2012 Historical Calendars are available for $7.
Hospice Care Plus Volunteer Training

2012 Mountain Mushroom Festival
Food court applications for the 2012 Mountain Mushroom Festival are now available at Irvine City Hall located at 101 Chestnut Street. Application, fees and proof of liability insurance must be submitted by deadline date of Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 4 p.m. Mailed applications must be postmarked by the deadline date. Mommie and Me Storytime
Mommie and Me Storytime for ages 2 -5, will meet Wednesdays at 10 a.m., and Friday at 10:30 a.m. Come and bring your child or grandhchild for a story, an art activity, and a snack.
Food Bank
The Estill County Community Food Bank needs to stock the shelves of the pantry. A collection container will be located in the Extension Office and other places where donations of non-perishable items (canned, boxed foods, etc.) may be dropped off. Please help support this worthy program to help the less fortunate.
