American Legion Post 79 will have their New Year’s party and dance for members and guests on Dec. 31, starting at 6 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Bootscootin Entertainment.

Historical and
Genealogical Society
The Estill County Historical and Genealogical Society will meet Tuesday, Jan. 3, at the Estill County Library, at 7 p.m., for a business meeting. Volume I of the Cemetery Books is available at the Museum on Saturdays.
Mommie and Me Storytime
Mommie and Me Storytime for ages 2-5, will meet Wednesdays at 10 a.m., and Friday at 10:30 a.m. Come and bring your child or grandchild for a story, an art activity, and a snack.
Madison County
Civil War Roundtable
The bi-monthly meeting of the Madison County Civil War Roundtable will be Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at 6:30 p.m., at the Dinner Bell Restaurant just off I-75, exit 76 in Berea. 2012 Mountain Mushroom Festival
Food court applications for the 2012 Mountain Mushroom Festival are now available at Irvine City Hall located at 101 Chestnut Street. Application, fees and proof of liability insurance must be submitted by deadline date of Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 4 p.m. Mailed applications must be postmarked by the deadline date. Estill County Adult Learning Center
The staff and teachers at the Estill County Adult Learning Center, 200 Wallace Circle, are available five days a week to help with preparation for the GED test which is administered monthly at the Estill County Board of Administration. There is no cost for classes and pre-trest study assistance. Students can work at his/her own pace and attend classes during day and evening hours. Food Bank
The Estill County Community Food Bank needs to stock the shelves of the pantry. A collection container will be located in the Extension Office and other places where donations of non-perishable items (canned, boxed foods, etc.) may be dropped off. Please help support this worthy program to help the less fortunate.
