ECMS wins 56th District Championship

ECMS-wins-56th-districtThe  2011-2012 56th district tournamnet was held at Owsley County High School. The ECMS Boy’s 6th and 8th grade boy’s basketball teams won the district championships, and the 7th grade team finished 2nd, losing in the championship game on a last second shot by Powell County.
6th grade game: Estill beat Lee in the opening round game, 37-31.  Estill beat Owsley in the championship game by a score of 46 – 13. Caleb Bonny led in scoring with 12, Nathan Lay added 10, John Parks 6, Kevin Richardson 4, Logan Beckler 4, Lane Doty 4, Logan Dunaway 4, and Chase Harrison kicked in 2. Estill’s sixth grade team is coached by Brian Covey and currently have a record of 6 wins and 2 losses.
7th grade game: Estill beat Owsley in the first round by a score of 35 – 13. Estill lost a “nailbiter” to Powell County in the 7th grade championship game by a score of 37-39. Estill was led in scoring by Caleb Bonny with 14, Brevin Bogan added 12, Colton Chaney 7, and Tanner Crowe 4. Estill’s seventh grade team is coached by Kyle Christopher and currently are posting a record of 5 wins and 3 losses.
8th grade game: Estill beat Powell in a hard fought opening round game by a score of 33-29.  Estill defeated Owsley in the 8th grade championship game by a score of 46-16. Estill scoring was as follows: Austin Morris 11, Caleb Bonny 9, Michael Abner 8, Austin Bowlin 4, Dylan Kortbein 4, Austin Rose 4, Kordel Day and Zach Withers both added 2 points to round out the scoring. Estill’s 8th grade team is coached by Jim Bonny and has a record of 5 wins and 4 losses.
