Glendon Estes, 75
Glendon Estes, 75, of Round Mountain Road in Irvine, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at the Marcum & Wallace Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was born Oct. 20, 1934, in Estill County and was the son of the late Walker and Haley Mackintosh Estes. He was a retired logger and farmer and attended the Holiness Church. He had lived in Estill County most of his life. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys McKinney and Mary Paul, and four brothers, Rice, Price, Ed and Hezekiah Estes.
Survivors include his wife, Dolly Ashcraft Estes; a daughter, Barbara Sue Sargent of Estill County; four sons, Harold Glen Estes of Estill County, Lloyd Dale Estes of Estill County, Kenneth Ray Estes of Estill County and Tony Lynn Estes of Madison County; three sisters, Margaret Embry of Estill County, Hester Collins of Indiana, and Lucy Conners of Madison County; a brother, George Estes of Estill County; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Jerry Rose. Burial was at the Estes Cemetery. Pallbearers were, Tony Estes, Darrell Sargent, Dale Smith, L.D. Harrison, Patrick Damrell and Donald Isaacs.
Oakley Burtman Stamper, 90
Oakley burtman Stamper, 90, of O.B. Stamper Road in Irvine, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at the Irvine Health & Rehabilitation Center after a short illness. He was born Nov. 30, 1919, in Wayne County and was the son of the late John Edward Stamper and Mary Willoughby Stamper Larrison. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Irvine Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Baker Stamper; one sister, Sudie Ratler and two brothers, Herbert Stamper and Allen Stamper.
Survivors include two daughters, Delories Faye Beach of Owenton, and Nellie Sue Beach of Estill County; eleven sons, Oakley Jr. Stamper of Estill County, Russell Stamper of Estill County, Harold Stamper of Estill County, Dale Stamper of Boone County, Allen Burtman Stamper of Harrison County, Benny Ray Stamper of South Carolina, Paul Stamper of Lawrenceburg, Floyd Day Stamper of Owen County, Henry R. Stamper of Estill County, Donald Royce Stamper of Arizona and Clarence Randall Stamper of Powell County; a sister, Mary Ruth Wong of Indiana; thirty two grandchildren, fifty six great grandchildren and thirty two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Oct. 22, at the Gospel Lighthouse Church by Bro. Paul Wayne Day. Burial was at the Powell’s Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steven Stamper, Teddy Stamper, Greg Stamper, Oakley Earl Stamper, Brian Stamper and Randall Stamper.
