American Legion Fishing Tournament
The American Legion Fishing Tournament is this Saturday, Sept. 11. Breakfast will be at 6 a.m. and fishing will be from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Sylvania retirees meeting
Winchester GTE/Sylvania/Osram/UAW retirees met Aug. 10 at Ryan’s in Richmond for their monthly meeting. Attending were Lenora Adams, Anne Berry, Mary Lou Dinsmore, Mae Epperson, Rose Keller, Sally McVey, Garnetta Parker, Wilma Standafer, and guests McKinley Miller, Bill Standafer, and Jon Vickery.
The September meeting will be the annual joint UAW Locals Picnic at Boonesboro, 11 AM on Wednesday September 15. All Sylvania UAW retirees are invited and urged to attend.
The October meeting will be Tuesday, Oct. 12, with retirees traveling to Blue Licks State Park for lunch.

Estill County High School 60 year reunion for the Class of 1950 will have their reunion Sept. 18 at Cedar Village Restaurant. Meet and greet beginning at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.

Senior Parent/Student Night
Estill County High School will be hosting an informative meeting for senior parents and students on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school library. Information regarding college admissions, scholarships, financial aid and other senior year activities will be available.
The Estill County Community Chorus will begin practice Thursday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. at First Christian Church, Main Street. If you love to sing and would like to participate in the chorus, come to practice on Sept. 9. Rehearsal will begin for the 2010 Christmas Concert.
Jesus Fest 2010 is scheduled for Sept. 11 at the Estill County Fair Grounds. Wavorly from Mississippi will be special guest singers. Class of 1975 – 35th Reunion
The Estill County High School (ECHS) Class of 1975 will be celebrating their 35th Class Reunion on Saturday, Sept. 11. Activities will begin with lunch,11:30 a.m. at Cedar Village Resturant. A tour of the new renovations at the high school will take place at 2:30 p.m., which will include the taking of a class reunion picture. Evening activities will begin with a social and dinner at 6:30 p.m. at Gillium’s in Richmond. In addition, there will be a memoribilia display, door prizes, a memorial video for classmates who have passed, and a picture video of the Class of ‘75. Veterans Benefits Rep
A veterans benefits field representative will be at the National Guard Armory, 335 Cow Creek Road, Ravenna on the first Thursday of each month from 1-3:30 p.m. Veterans and their dependents will receive assistance filing for federal and state veterans benefits. The service is free. Veterans need to furnish copies of pertinent documentation to verify eligibility. For more information call 1-866-376-0308.
The Estill County Community Food Bank needs to stock the shelves of the pantry. A collection container will be located in the Extension Office and other places where donations of non-perishable items (canned, boxed foods, etc.) may be dropped off. Please help support this worthy program to help the less fortunate.
Mommie and Me
Mommie and Me Storytime groups will be every Wednesday at 10 a.m. and every Friday at 10:30 a.m. These groups are for children ages 2 through 5. Bring your child to the library for a story, an art activity, and a snack. Call 723-3030 for more information.

Friends of the Fitchburg Furnace will meet Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 2 p.m. at Citizens Guaranty Bank community room. Anyone is welcome to attend.
Garden Tyme Herb Club
The Garden Thyme Herb Club will have a Labor Day Picnic theme for its September 16 meeting at the Senior Citizens Center. The meeting starts at 7PM. Stephenie Schnittker will make a presentation on the history of Labor Day. Herbs of the month are bee balm, to be presented by Linda Parsons, and arnica, to be presented by Sally Ramsdell. Members and guests are asked to bring picnic foods, games and sports equipment.
