Community Unity White Out

Miss Estill County Community Pageant
Estill County Middle School Cheerleaders will sponsor s Miss Estill County Community Pageant on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 5 p.m. at the high school auditorium. This is for ages 0-22. For more information contact Sandy Judge at 859-248-4018.

ECHS Class of ‘50
Estill County High School 60 year reunion for the Class of 1950 will have their reunion Sept. 18 at Cedar Village Restaurant. Meet and greet beginning at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.

The American Legion will have a fishing tournament Saturday, Sept. 4 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Breakfast will be a 6 a.m.
Board of Health
The Estill County Board of Health will meet at Cedar Village Restaurant on Sept. 8 at noon.
Senior Parent/Student Night
Estill County High School will be hosting an informative meeting for senior parents and students on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school library. Information regarding college admissions, scholarships, financial aid and other senior year activities will be available.
The Estill County Community Chorus will begin practice Thursday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. at First Christian Church, Main Street. If you love to sing and would like to participate in the chorus, come to practice on Sept. 9. Rehearsal will begin for the 2010 Christmas Concert.
County Clerk’s Office
The Estill County Clerk’s office will be closed the following days for the Labor Day Weekend: Friday and Saturday, Sept. 3 and 4, due to the state furlough thar will shut down the computer systems; and Monday, Sept. 6 in observance of Labor Day.
ALL parent and family volunteers must attend confidentiality training and have volunteer screening. This includes booster parents and those wishing to participate in classroom and field trip opportunities. Please contact your Family Resource/Youth Service Center Director or Teresa Dawes at 723-2181 for a scheduled time.
Jesus Fest 2010 is scheduled for Sept. 11 at the Estill County Fair Grounds. Wavorly from Mississippi will be special guest singers. Jesus Fest Meeting
There will be a Jesus Fest meeting Sept. 7 at Christian Worship Center at 7 p.m. All those wanting to work this year need to be present. Anyone who wants a staff shirt needs to bring $6 to pay for it. Any donations of money, food or drinks need to be turned in at the Aug. 23 meeting. Workers are still needed. The Estill County Historical and Genealogical Society will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at the Estill County Library at 7 p.m. Phillip Scifer with the Civil War Round Table will present information on “The Civil War Battle of Richmond, Kentucky,” which took place in 1863.
Class of 1975 – 35th Reunion
The Estill County High School (ECHS) Class of 1975 will be celebrating their 35th Class Reunion on Saturday, Sept. 11. Activities will begin with lunch,11:30 a.m. at Cedar Village Resturant. A tour of the new renovations at the high school will take place at 2:30 p.m., which will include the taking of a class reunion picture. Evening activities will begin with a social and dinner at 6:30 p.m. at Gillium’s in Richmond. In addition, there will be a memoribilia display, door prizes, a memorial video for classmates who have passed, and a picture video of the Class of ‘75. Veterans Benefits Rep
A veterans benefits field representative will be at the National Guard Armory, 335 Cow Creek Road, Ravenna on the first Thursday of each month from 1-3:30 p.m. Veterans and their dependents will receive assistance filing for federal and state veterans benefits. The service is free. Veterans need to furnish copies of pertinent documentation to verify eligibility. For more information call 1-866-376-0308.
The Estill County Community Food Bank needs to stock the shelves of the pantry. A collection container will be located in the Extension Office and other places where donations of non-perishable items (canned, boxed foods, etc.) may be dropped off. Please help support this worthy program to help the less fortunate.
Mommie and Me
Mommie and Me Storytime groups will be every Wednesday at 10 a.m. and every Friday at 10:30 a.m. These groups are for children ages 2 through 5. Bring your child to the library for a story, an art activity, and a snack. Call 723-3030 for more information.
