Danny Witt, 63
Danny Ray Witt,63, formerly of Irvine, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. He was born Jan. 17, 1947 in Estill County, a son of Ray and Eunice Hutchison Witt. He was a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam war. He was stationed in Da Nang. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged Feb. 26, 1974. He worked for the CSX Railroad, and later earned a degree in Associate and Applied Science from the University of Kentucky, Lexington Community College and was employed by the University of Kentucky Medical Center as a registered nurse. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Irvine. He had a great love of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by a daughter Heather Dawn Witt; grandparents, Arthur and Stella Witt, Clarence and Jeanie Hutchison.
Survivors include his parents, Ray and Eunice Witt; his daughter, DeAnna Rae (Brian) Neal; two grandchildren Shelby and Jacob Neal; a sister Janie (Ryan) Stone; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at 1 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home by Bro. Glen Sizemore with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Shelby Jean Wallingford, 70
Shelby Jean Wallingford, 70, 761 Paint Creek Road, Stanton, widow of Kenneth Wallingford, died Tuesday, Aug. 9 at Saint Joseph Hospital, Lexington. She was born April 2, 1940 in Lewis County to the late William Edman and Oleta Craycraft Thomas. She was a retired bookkeeper, a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Stanton, and Powell County Homemakers. Survivors include sons, Kelly Wallingford, Richmond and Tim and wife, Terena Wallingford, Stanton; a brother, Bill Thomas, Poplar Grove; a sister, Winnie Bigelow, Poplar Grove; and a granddaughter, Rebecca Wallingford, Stanton. Services are Friday, Aug. 13, at 1 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Stanton by Rev. Greg Webb. Visitation is Thursday, 6-9 p.m. Wells Funeral Home, Stanton. Burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Fleming County.
