Virginia Ruffner, 90
Virginia Ruffner, of Swanton, Ohio died Wednesday evening, July 28, 2010 at Swanton Health Care one day after her 90th birthday. She was born in Estill County, on July 27, 1920 to Vernon Salyers and Stella (Tuttle) Salyers. She graduated from Irvine High School. She worked for over 30 years with Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance. After retirement, she was able to enjoy her interests of reading and listening to “Big Band” music; she was even able to learn a new hobby in quilting.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her brother, Elbert Salyers.
Survivors include her children, Connie (James) Fetterman, Michael (Elaine) Ruffner and Harriet Cunningham; ten grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service was held at Swanton Cemetery.

Robert Tipton Jr.
Robert W. (Bobby) Tipton Jr., 41, of Bedford, died at 4:03 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital in Bedford. Born Sept. 4, 1968, he was the son of Robert “Whitey” Tipton and Patty (Ashely) Sanders. He was a mechanic and a handyman who loved to help people. He enjoyed Kentucky basketball and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 689 in Bedford.
Survivors include his mother, Patty Sanders and husband Byron of Bedford; his father, Robert (Whitey) Tipton and wife Rita of Bedford; three children, Daniel Taylor, Megan Tipton and Clayton Tipton; two sisters, Lisa Harper and husband Billy of Mitchell, and Missi Southern and her companion Kyle Peters of Mitchell; a step-brothers, Troy Taylor of Bedford; a step-sister, Julie Crane and husband Mike of Fayetteville; several nieces and nephews; and maternal grandmother, Lorene Ashley of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Doug and Emily Tipton, maternal grandfather, Morris Ashley; and cousins, Shannon Rainey and J.R. Tipton.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary by the Rev. Glen Hamer and the Rev. Andrew Johnson with burial at the Crawford Cemetery.
