Danny Kidd, 58

Danny Berl Kidd, 58, of Red Lick Road, Irvine, husband of Alma “Crikett” Arvin Kidd, died Thursday, July 22, at his home after a sudden illness. He was born Oct. 6, 1951 in West Virginia, a son of the late Mack and Ellen Gilliam Kidd. He was a self employed contractor. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Berl Kidd.

Survivors other than his wife, include two daughters, Melissa Arvin of Irvine and Kendra Emch of Mansfield, Ohio; three brothers, Frank Short of Columbus, Ohio, and Wayne and John Short of Portsmonth, Ohio; sister, Geneva Yates of Lakeland Fla.; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lewis Funeral Home by Bro. Kevin Chaney with burial at the Jackson Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers were his brothers’-in-law, Dean, Daniel, Roger, Dwight, David and Michael Arvin.

 

Glendon Dixon, 67

Glendon “Bo Dick” Dixon, 67, Spicer Road, Irvine, died Saturday, July 17, 2010 in his home after a long illness. He was born Aug. 6, 1942 in  Estill County, the son of the late Robert and Edna McKinney Dixon. He was a retired saw mill worker and had lived in Estill County all of his life. He attended the South Irvine Church of Christ.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Doris Isaacs Dixon, are two sons, Michael Glenn Dixon and Glendon Lee Dixon (LeAndrea), both of Estill County; two sisters, Linda Jane Frasier (Nelson) of Winchester, and Tina Stamper (Darrell) of Florida; one brother, Ray Dixon (Marie) of Estill County; three grandchildren, Larry Eric Richardson, Mechell Leeann Stamper and Dorsie Elizabeth Dixon; two step-grandchildren, Shelby LeAnn Farmer, Steven Landon Hix; two great-grandchildren, Alexa Nicole Richardson and Miranda Nicole Stamper.

He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Malcolm Francis Dixon; and two brothers, Woodrow Wilson Dixon and Cecil Eldridge Dixon.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Danny Neal with burial at South Irvine  Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Cecil Dixon, Benny Ray Isaacs, Johnny Dixon, Eugene Taylor, Odale Isaacs, Greg Isaacs. Honorary pallbearers were Dwight Arvin, Tobby Isaacs, Landon Hix, Benny Isaacs Sr., Earnest Isaacs Sr., Earnest Ray Isaacs, Bobby Isaacs and Eric Richardson.

 

Howard Estes, 88

Howard Lee Estes, 88, Calico Road, Berea, died Monday, July 19, 2010 at his home after a short illness. He was born March 21, 1922 in Estill County, the son of the late Robert Lee and Maude Flynn Estes. He was retired from Eastern Kentucky University. He was a member of the Leavel Green Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Corina Huddleston Estes; three daughters, Donna Marie Whitehead and husband Ricky, and Corinna Lee Blevins and special friend Sam, both of Berea, and Patricia Ann Brock and husband Bob of Virginia; one son, Paul DeWayne Estes and wife Susan of Illinois; one sister, Minnie Richardson of Illinois; 13 grandchildren, Glen Branham, Robert Branham, Fred Branham, Oscar Paul Hendrix, Timothy Paul Estes, Benjamin Lee Estes, Matthew Albert Estes, Heather Lavin, Tasha Murray Megan Najmon, John Christopher Blevins, Daniel Blevins, Ashley Lynn Darland; several great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel; by Bro. Bob Brook and Bro. Harvey Spry with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Paul Hendrix, Glen Branham, Fred Branham, Timothy Estes, Benjamin Estes, Matthew Estes, John Blevins and Robert Branham.

 

Rubye Dickey, 71

Rubye Lee Sparks Dickey, 71, Winchester Road, Irvine, died Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Central Baptist Hospital after a short illness. She was born Nov. 5, 1938 in Florida, the daughter of the late Lee Roy and Rosa Mae Triplett Sparks. She was retired from the Senior Friendship Center in Florida. She had lived in Estill County the last 15 years. She attended the Blackcreek Holiness Church.

Survivors include her husband, Maynard “Bud” Dickey; one daughter, Rhonda Woosley of Estill County; two sons, Ronnie Dickey of Estill County and Michael Eugene Dickey of Florida; three grandchildren, Larissa Muncie, Kenneth Joe Woosley, Travis Michael Dickey; four step-grandchildren, John Strange, Trina Dixon, Melissa Harrison and David Ray Strange; two great-grandchildren, Brynnleigh Muncy and Frankie Joe Muncy; five step-great-grandchildren, Blake Harrison,  D.J., Alex Dixon, Hunter Strange, Drew Strange.

She was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Taylor Joe Woosley.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at 7 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Herbert Barnett.
