Longest Day of Play
The Longest Day of Play will be at the Ravenna Veterans Memorial Park Monday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This will be a free day for all kids with games, free lunch and lots of great information for parents.
The annual Lions Club Pancake Breakfast will be held on June 12 from 6-11:30 a.m. at First Christian Church, Main Street. Tickets can be obtained by any club member or at the door. The price is $5. Carry out will also be available.
Class of 1990
Estill County High School class of 1990 will have their 20 year reunion picnic Aug. 14 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ravenna Veterans Memorial Park (Choo-Choo Park). The price for sandwich/chips/drink lunch is $7 per person to be paid at the registration table at the picnic. Everyone is welcome to bring a side dish or dessert to share. Civil War Roundtable
The bi-monthly meeting of the Madison County Civil War Roundtable will be Friday, July 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Dinner Bell Restaurant just off I-75, Exit 76 in Berea. Noted historian and author Glen LaFantasie will give a lecture entitled “Remembering the Past at Gettysburg.” Reservations are necessary. The price of the buffet meal is $15. Estill County Farmers Market
The 2010 Estill County Farmer’s Market, held under the Pavilion at the Estill County Fairgrounds, will be open Tuesdays from 3 to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The second Monday of each month will be Senior Discount Day. For questions contact Kim at 723-7101 or Pam at 723-9562.
Class of 1950

The American Legion Post #79 will host a breakfast and fishing tournament June 12. Breakfast will be served from 6-7 a.m.; tournament will start at 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Weigh in will begin at 2:10 p.m. Rules will be passed out at sign up. Those fishing in the tournament in the legion pool will be off limits the day before the tournament.
Estill County Beauty Contest
Starting on May 26 applications will be taken for: Miss Estill County Open Beauty Contest – Ages 16-21; Miss Estill County Open Teen Beauty Contest – Ages 13-15; Miss Estill County Pre-Teen Pageant (Closed) – Ages 8-12; Pageant date – Monday, June 28, 2010 – Estill Co. Fair Grounds; Pageant entry deadline for all 3 pageants – Friday, June 25. Relay for Life
The Estill County Relay for Life will be June 11 at the Estill High School track. Anyone interested in forming a team or for more information attend the Relay meetings held the second Tuesday of each month.

Veterans Benefits Rep
A veterans benefits field representative will be at the National Guard Armory, 335 Cow Creek Road, Ravenna on the first Thursday of each month from 1-3:30 p.m. Veterans and their dependents will receive assistance filing for federal and state veterans benefits. The service is free. Veterans need to furnish copies of pertinent documentation to verify eligibility. For more information call 1-866-376-0308.
The Estill County Community Food Bank needs to stock the shelves of the pantry. A collection container will be located in the Extension Office and other places where donations of non-perishable items (canned, boxed foods, etc.) may be dropped off. Please help support this worthy program to help the less fortunate.
