Sometime between 1:30 and 7 a.m. Tuesday would-be thieves threw a rock into a window of Estill County Clerk Sherry Fox’s office, unlatched it climbed in.
From there the burglar(s) rummaged through the clerk’s office and then entered the sheriff’s office.
“Nothing was taken that we can determine,” Sheriff Gary Freeman said. “Sherry is still doing inventory, but at first look she doesn’t seem to be missing anything.”
He said the burglars must have been disappointed when they didn’t find anything to steal.
“They ransacked our office, but we don’t keep any money in here,” he said. “A bank deposit is made everyday.”
Kentucky State Police Detective Ken Bradley is investigating and Freeman said they have some suspects.
“We have some people of interest that we are looking at,” he said.
Freeman asks that anybody who has any information about the case to call his office at 723-2323 or Det. Bradley at 859-623-2404.
“Even if you just saw somebody on the street during those hours that you can give a description of could help,” Freeman said.
