A community forum about the future possibilities of the Mack Theater will be held Monday, May 10 at 5:30 p.m. at Irvine City Hall. The forum is organized and made possible by EKU’s CEDET, TOUR SEKY, and Estill Development Alliance. The public comments from this forum will be collected and made part of the final report made to local officials later this summer. Police Memorial Ceremony
The annual police memorial ceremony will be in front of the courthouse on May 11 at 7 p.m. This is your chance to show how much you honor fallen officers and appreciate those who still serve.
The American Legion Post #79 will hold a road block Saturday, May 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to raise money to help decorate veterans’ graves on Memorial Day.
Class of 2000
The Estill County graduating class of 2000 will be having their 10 year class reunion on June 26. The festivities will kick-off with a cook-out from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Million Park in Richmond, KY. (Hamburgers and hotdogs will be provided). Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish as well as a cooler for their own drinks. The evening event will be held at the Igloo Club located on the grounds of the Bluegrass Army Depot in Richmond from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The cost is $20 per person and needs to be paid no later than June 11. Winchester Sylvania/Osram/UAW retirees will hold their next monthly meeting Tuesday, May 11, 11 a.m. at the Union Hall on Bloomfield Road. After the meeting, members and guests will travel to Irvine for lunch at Cedar Village.
Teen Game Night
Come on out to the third Teen Game Night at the library. Board and electronic games as well as free snacks Thursday, May 13 from 4-6 p.m. Bring a friend. Have a chance to give us input on how to better serve local teenagers.
Estill County Retired Teachers will meet at West Irvine Plaza on Monday, May 10 at 10:30 a.m. to carpool to Mountain Springs Inn, located at 214 Ky Hwy 2004, Sand Gap, to lunch and a demonstration. Relay for Life
The Estill County Relay for Life will be June 11 at the Estill High School track. Anyone interested in forming a team or for more information attend the Relay meetings held the second Tuesday of each month.

Hargett Fire Dept. Auxiliary
The Hargett Fire Dept. Auxiliary will hold a yard sale and bake sale fundraiser on Saturday, May 8 from 9 a.m. – ?. The proceeds will help with the expenses on the fire station. We will accept yard sale donations on Friday May 7 at 2 p.m. – ? Bake sale items will need to be brought on the day of the sale.
Veterans Benefits Rep
A veterans benefits field representative will be at the National Guard Armory, 335 Cow Creek Road, Ravenna on the first Thursday of each month from 1-3:30 p.m. Veterans and their dependents will receive assistance filing for federal and state veterans benefits. The service is free. Veterans need to furnish copies of pertinent documentation to verify eligibility. For more information call 1-866-376-0308.
The Estill County Community Food Bank needs to stock the shelves of the pantry. A collection container will be located in the Extension Office and other places where donations of non-perishable items (canned, boxed foods, etc.) may be dropped off. Please help support this worthy program to help the less fortunate.
Mommie and Me
