Alumni Reunion Cruise
Alumni, attendees, family and friends of Estill County High School, let’s join together with the Irvine Alumni for a School Reunion Cruise on the Carnival Inspiration departing Tampa, Fla. on Oct. 18, 2010 and returning to Tampa on Oct. 23. Ports of call include Grand Cayman Island and Cozumel, Mexico. The cruise includes: All meals, snacks, beverages (coffee, tea, milk, juice) – evening entertainment – private reception – choice of beautiful cabin accommodations – daytime activities and ship board entertainment – children’s and teen programs. A $25 per person deposit (for double occupancy cabins) is due by March 21. Total cost for an ocean view cabin is $413.84 per person and inside cabin is $373.84 both based on double occupancy. The Irvine-Ravenna Kiwanis Club will have their Pancake Breakfast Saturday, March 20 from 7-11 a.m. at Estill Springs Elementary. Tickets are $5 per adult; $3 per child. Tickets may be purchased in advance from any Kiwanian.
The ECHS Football Boosters will have a meeting to elect officers for the upcoming 2010 football season. Anyone wishing to run for office is encouraged to come. We will also be discussing fund raising ideas as well as setting goals for our team. All parents, relatives and friends of our team that would like to participate in the program are invited to attend. The meeting will be Sunday, March 7 at 2 p.m. in the ECHS weight room.
St Elizabeth Church Basement Sale will be Wednesday, March 3, from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, March 4, from 1p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Clothes, books, toys and many more items.
Groups needed to help keep our county beautiful!!
Would your church, youth group, sport organization or civic organization like to earn extra money while keeping Estill County beautiful? We are currently making road assignments for 2010 in our Adopt-A-Road Program. All groups that have participated in the past will also need to contact our office to let us know if you are still interested in participating. Hunter Safety Class
There will be a Hunter Safety Class (orange card) at the Estill County Fairgrounds. The 3-day class will be Thursday and Friday, March 25 and 26 from 6-9 p.m., and Saturday, March 27 from 9 a.m. to noon. There is no charge for this class. You must be at least 9 years old to take the class. Registration deadline is Wednesday, March 17. To register, or for more information, call the Estill County Extension Office at 606-723-4557.
Stacy Lane Apartments will be sponsoring a Fair Housing Seminar on March 4 at 2 p.m. at the Estill County Library. This meeting will be conducted by Kentucky Housing Corporation at no cost to participants. The Estill County Historical and Genealogical Society will meet March 2 at 7 p.m. at the Estill County Library. This program is funded in part by the Kentucky Humanities Council Inc. and the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels. James C. Claypool, a Professor Ementus of History at Northern Kentucky University, will present the program entitled “Rascals, Heroes and Just Plain Uncommon Folks from Kentucky. He will profile a choice selection of the many colorful Kentuckians, male and female, noted and notorious, whose stories make our history so interesting and entertaining.
Weather Spotters Class
There will be a Weather Spotters Class March 2, at 6:30 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Building on Stacy Lane. Anyone interested can attend.
Estill County Library
The Estill County Public Library announces that they now have more science fiction/fantasy books (Malazan Book of the Fallen and The Wheel of Time), and young adult/teen books (Seekers, Clique, Alex Rider, Reowall, Cirque du Freak, Uglies and Dead Is). Come in and check out the new collections.

Veterans Benefits Rep
A veterans benefits field representative will be at the National Guard Armory, 335 Cow Creek Road, Ravenna on the first Thursday of each month from 1-3:30 p.m. Veterans and their dependents will receive assistance filing for federal and state veterans benefits. The service ie free. Veterans need to furnish copies of pertinent documentation to verify eligibility. For more information call 1-866-376-0308.
Republican Women’s Club
Madison County Republican Women’s Club meets Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. in the Central Bank building on Main Street in Richmond. Secretary of State, Trey Grayson, will be speaking along with Jared Carpenter, State Senate candidate, and Kenny Barger, candidate for Madison County Clerk. This meeting is open to all interested men and women of Madison County and the surrounding communities.

Boy Scout Round Up
Boy Scout Troop 144 invites all 11 year old and older boys to come check out the Boy Scouts. The Estill County Community Food Bank needs to stock the shelves of the pantry. A collection container will be located in the Extension Office and other places where donations of non-perishable items (canned, boxed foods, etc.) may be dropped off. Please help support this worthy program to help the less fortunate.
Mommie and Me
Mommie and Me Storytime groups will be every Wednesday at 10 a.m. and every Friday at 10:30 a.m. These groups are for children ages 2 through 5. Bring your child to the library for a story, an art activity, and a snack. Call 723-3030 for more information.
