Winchester GTE/Sylvania/Osram/

Winchester GTE/Sylvania/Osram/UAW retirees will hold their February business meeting 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9 at Garden Girls’ Cafe in Al’s Garden Center on Lexington Road. The group will remain at the cafe for lunch after the business meeting.

 

Charity Cheer Expo

Estill County Middls  School Cheer Boosters will host a cheer expo Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. UK’s white squad will be there to perform. Raffle-50/50-concessions-donation drive-admission. All proceeds go to the American Red Cross to benwfit relief efforts in Haiti. For information contact Sandy  Judge 859-248-4018.

 

Soccer Sign Up

The Estill County Spring Soccer Sign up will be held at McDonalds: Feb. 5: 6-8 p.m.; Feb. 6: 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; Feb. 12: 6-8 p.m.; Feb. 13: 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

 

Valentine Dance

The American Legion Post 79 Ladies Auxiliary will have a Valentine Dance Feb. 13 from 8 p.m. to midnight.

 

Body Fitness Classes

The Body Fitness Exercise classes led by Sister Loretta Spotila, RN, will begin on Monday, Feb. 1 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Central Office Building, 253 Main Street. For more information call 723-8505.

 

Estill County Library

The Estill County Public Library announces that they now have more science fiction/fantasy books (Malazan Book of the Fallen and The Wheel of Time), and young adult/teen books (Seekers, Clique, Alex Rider, Reowall, Cirque du Freak, Uglies and Dead Is). Come in and check out the new collections.

 

ECHS Class of 2000

Anyone interested in more information regarding the 10-year reunion of the Class of 2000, email any questions and/or your contact information to estillcounty2000@gmail.com. Classmates are encouraged to join the group (Estill County High School Class of 2000) at www.facebook.com for updates on reunion plans and to keep in touch with classmates. Dulcimer Lessons

The Appalachian Dulcimer Club is offering free lessons on Fridays at 5 p.m. at the Estill County Public Library. The only requirement is to bring your own dulcimer. 

 

ECHS Class of 1978

Attention: Invitation to all members of the Class of 1978 to create an account on Facebook. This is a fun and convenient way to stay in touch with friends and to make it easier in planning future class reunions. Please spread the word to anyone you know; help make this happen. 

 

Boy Scout Round Up

Boy Scout Troop 144 invites all 11 year old and older boys to come check out the Boy Scouts. If you enjoy the outdoors, camping hiking, archery, and many other activities, then you need to check us out at our meeting every Monday from 6:30-8 p.m. at the courthouse at 6:30 p.m. For more information check out the new website at Irvinetroop144.ScoutLander.com or call Travis Holton at 726-9265. 

 

Food Bank

The Estill County  Community Food Bank needs to stock the shelves of the pantry. A collection container will be located in the Extension Office and other places where donations of non-perishable items (canned, boxed foods, etc.) may be dropped off. Please help support this worthy program to help the less fortunate.

 

Mommie and Me

Mommie and Me Storytime groups will be every Wednesday at 10 a.m. and every Friday at 10:30 a.m. These groups are for children ages 2 through 5. Bring your child to the library for a story, an art activity, and a snack. Call 723-3030 for more information.
