The Educational Talent Search (ETS) Program at Eastern Kentucky University is happy to announce the Southern Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (SAEOPP) Scholarship winners. The scholarship competition began in January 2017 with two seniors selected as nominees to represent the EKU Talent Search Program in the seven-state regional competition. The scholarship winners were announced on Tuesday, February 14th, at the SAEOPP Conference in Mobil, Alabama.
Congratulations to Estill County High School Seniors, Peyton Mckinley Meek (daughter of Scotty & Kaye Watson Meek) and Ashlee Rachelle Turner (daughter of Randall & Letrisha Abner Turner), as they each were selected by the SAEOPP Scholarship Committee to receive a $1,000 award for fall 2017. Both plan to attend Eastern Kentucky University.
The Educational Talent Search Program is one of the federal TRIO Programs working with 6th grade through 12th grade students in Estill, Garrard, Jackson, Lee, and Madison counties. Students must have an interest and ability to pursue education beyond high school. Two-thirds of the students served must meet federal income & first-generation guidelines for the program. All services are FREE. ETS recruitment is currently in progress.
