Thomas Lee Alcorn, 85, widower of Cynthia Mae Sparks Alcorn died Saturday, April 16, 2017, in his home. He was a native of Estill County, a son of the late Hume and Maude Wells Alcorn. He was loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a gentle man who never said or did anything to hurt anyone. He delighted in serving the Lord. He worked at a sawmill for over forty years, and his expertise was sought after by many, far and wide.
Survivors include his son, William Alcorn; his daughters, Wilma Alcorn, Donna Alcorn, Sue Watkins and husband, Art Watkins, and Debora Fields; his daughter-in-law, Debbie M. Alcorn; his sisters, Mildred Kelly, and Juanita Middleton; his brothers, Jim Alcorn, Ray Alcorn, Garry Alcorn; his grandchildren, Carolyn Boyken and husband, Thomas Boyken, Crystal Seiger and husband, Aleksandr Sieger, and Douglas Fields; five great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.
Other than his wife of 61 years Cynthia Sparks Alcorn, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas W. Alcorn; his brothers, Howard Alcorn and Hume Alcorn Jr.; his sisters, Cornelia Hale, Delma Fox, and Mary Sparks.
Services were held Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Lewis-Abner with Bro. Delvin Reece officiating. Burial in the Congleton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Thomas Boyken, Gary Boyken, Blake Townsend, Douglas Fields, Aleksandr Sieger, and Garrett Costantino.
Kelly Renee Flynn Neal, age 48, of Ravenna, Kentucky, died at her residence, Wednesday, April 5, 2017. She was a Dayton, Ohio native born April 30, 1968, daughter of Verlin and Okra Stamper Flynn.
Survivors include her husband, Jason Leon Neal; and two sons, Joshua Dale Thomas and girlfriend, Katie Grindstaff, and Matthew Wade Neal.
She was cremated and no public service was scheduled. Reppert Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Berea was entrusted with arrangements.
Danny Birch, 69, of Winchester, Kentucky, husband to Susan Mobley Birch, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at the Clark Regional Medical Center. He was born in Winchester, on August 17, 1947, to the late Charlie and Lucille Raney Birch. He was retired from Rockwell International after 25 years of service and attended Christview Christian Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Steve Birch, Chuck Birch and wife, Venessa Birch, and Timothy Mobley and wife, Jessica Mobley; brother, Kenneth “Buddy” Birch and wife, AbbieBirch, step-brothers, Doug Christopher and wife, Linda Christopher, and Randall Christopher and wife, Joyce Christopher; sister-in-law, Teresa Mobley and husband, David Mobley; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 15, at the Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, 289 South Main Street, Winchester with Forrest Hahn presiding. Pallbearers were Danny Hall, James Reed, David Clem, Timothy Mobley and Kevin Birch. Burial in the Winchester Cemetery.
Irene Rose Evans, 89, of Panola, the widow of Albert Evans, died Friday, April 14, 2017 at Baptist Health in Richmond. She was born on September 5, 1927 in Estill County, the daughter of the late David and Cynthia Skinner Rose. She was a homemaker, a retired employee of Gibson Greeting Card in Berea, and was at the time of her death, the oldest living member of The Panola Baptist Church. She loved to quilt, attend church and loved tending to her flowers.
Survivors include one son, Dwight Evans and wife, Rayma Faye Evans; two daughters, Joan Rose and husband, Russell Rose, and Peggy Cox and husband, Larry Cox; one brother, Cledus Rose and wife, Shirley Rose; one sister, Jeanette Oglesby; seven grandchildren, Devonna Halcomb and husband, Brett Halcomb, Scott Evans, Hope Walton and husband, Eddie Walton, Kim Daugherty and husband, Johnny Daugherty, Diana Rose, Tina Lynch and husband, James Lynch, and Amanda Gibson and husband, Jason Gibson; 11 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren as well several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael Evans; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services wree conducted Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Ronk and Rev. Marvin Neal officiating. Burial in the Red Hill Cemetery at Panola. Pallbearers were Johnny Daugherty, Clint Daugherty, Scott Evans, James Lynch, Rodney Rose, Justin Fritz, and Kenneth Richardson.
