Beginner Yoga at Marcum & Wallace Hospital
Beginner Yoga class at Marcum & Wallace Hospital is held in the Mercy Room each Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. with instructor Laritza Gomez. The Estill County Community Chorus will be having spring rehearsals every Thursday, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Irvine United Methodist Church, at 243 Main Street, for the spring concert scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 21, at 3 p.m. Rose Daniels is the chorus director. Hunter’s Education Class
There will be a Hunter’s Education Class (orange card) at the Estill County Extension Office. The 3-day class will be Thursday and Friday, March 23rd & 24th from 6 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, March 25th starting at 9 a.m. at the Estill Co. Sportsmen’s Club. You must attend all 3 classes to obtain your orange card. Ages 9 and older (as of March 25). Effective March 1, 2014, KY Dept. of Fish & Wildlife requires online pre-registration for all hunter education courses statewide. Mountain Mushroom Festival T-Shirts
The 2017 Mountain Mushroom Festival t-shirts and mugs will be for sale in Irvine City Hall, 101 Chestnut St., until Friday, April 29 at noon. The festival t-shirts range in size from youth to adult sizes with a mushroom design to celebrate the 27 years of the festival. The jade dome color t-shirts are short-sleeve. Sweatshirts and long sleeve t-shirts in large and X-large are available in kelly green. During the festival the t-shirts will be for sale in the gazebo on Broadway.
Mushroom Festival Events Registration
The Mountain Mushroom Festival invites the community to get involved in the activities and events of the festival. Guidelines and registration forms for the Mountain Mushroom Festival events are available in Irvine City Hall and on the festival website: www.mountainmushroomfestival.org. The events are the Arts & Crafts Booths, Fungus 5K & 2K Run/Walk, Parade, and Mushroom Festival pageant. Spiritual Recovery Group
A spiritual recovery group for those who have addiction or other oppression struggles will be meeting every Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Westcare community room located at 180 Main Street. Anyone may attend; come as you are. Pastor Chris Carlyle leads a class for those with struggle with addiction and spiritual oppression. If you are tired of fighting the darkness alone and want recovery of your spiritual identity in Christ, please come for this unusual event. Find the path back to the light.

Take Part in Commonwealth Cleanup
Help pick up roadside litter & illegal dumps in your community. Take advantage of one of the following two options: On Friday, March 24, 2017 from 9 to 2 p.m. Dump trucks will be available at the following sites: Pea Ridge (located at the Soccer Fields); Greenbriar Church (at the foot of Drip Rock); Barnes Mountain (located at the corner of Eli Sparks Road & 851); Cobhill Fire Station (located at the Fire Department); and Winchester Road, Highway 82 (Located at 82 Food Mart). On Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 8 to 12 p.m. Advanced Disposal (located at 2700 Winchester Road, Irvine). If you wish to participate in either of these two options, please remember the following rules: ABSOLUTELY NO TRASH can be left along roadsides. Neither the county nor state will be offering door-to-door pickup. Those leaving things along the roadside will be cited. NO TIRES WILL BE ACCEPTED! And ALL white-goods (i.e. appliances) must be taken directly to the landfill. Please keep in mind, white-goods are FREE every day at the landfill. Tots Express School Readiness Program
Three and four year-olds, as well as their parents and grandparents/guardians, are invited to Tots Express on April 14, and April 28. The purpose of the school readiness program is to introduce three and four year-olds to pre-school and help them become kindergarten ready while also teaching parents strategies to help their child succeed. A Veterans Benefits Field Representative will be at the Estill County Library on the first Thursday of each month between the hours of 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Veterans and their dependents will receive assistance filing for Federal and State Veterans benefits. This service is provided free of charge by the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs. To apply, Veterans need to furnish copies of pertinent documentation to verify eligibility. Winter Body Fitness classes
Body Fitness exercise classes have began for winter with instructor Sister Loretta Spotila, R.N. The classes are helpful for persons with arthritis, asthma, difficulty moving. The classes use gentle exercise and movement to build strength and flexibility. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Estill County Extension Offices located on Golden Court off of Stacy Lane Road. A $3 donation is suggested per class.
