For the fifth year in a row, the Estill County Engineer softball team is heading to the state tournament.
Last week tthe Estill County Lady ‘Neers clinched the 14th Region title in tournament play in Hazard. McKeely Muncie was named 14th Region Most Valuable Player following her shut-out of Perry Central. Muncie struck out nine, allowed two hits and zero extra base hits.
Muncie’s performance also earned her the Player of the Game status for the ninth time this season on MaxPreps, a high school sports website.
Four Estill County players were named to the 14th Region Softball All-tournament team. They are Sarah Barnes, Abby Winkle, McKeely Muncie and Sarah Wiseman.
The Lady ‘Neers will travel to Owensboro to compete against North Laurel on Thursday, June 9, in the first round of the state tournament.
