On Tuesday, April 12, Marcum & Wallace Hospital hosted all the first grade students from Estill Springs Elementary for their annual Teddy Bear Fair. Every student was given a “Will Bear” in memory of ECHS student Will Wise, an Estill County High School student who passed away from a car wreck. His family and friends donate toys to MWMH every Christmas. Students visited the emergency room, radiology department, laboratory, medical unit, and physical therapy department. They also learned about heart health, medication safety, and the dangers of tobacco. In addition, students toured an ambulance and medical helicopter. Special thanks to our community partners: Estill Co. EMS, Air Methods, Children’s Clinic and the Estill County Health Department. Special thanks to our volunteers from the Estill County High School and the MWMH Auxiliary. Thanks to our special guests Dr. Tonya Justice and Dr. Tamera Spangler from Mercy Primary Care-Irvine for stopping by.
