On Thursday of last week, Beverly Thompson and Bella, her boxer, visited the Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
In tow, Thompson had a wagon full of stuffed animals, easter eggs, and candy to pass out to residents.
Thompson adopted Bella in Dec. of last year after seeing an advertisement on Craig’s List. Bella’s human mother was elderly and had passed away. The neighbors were taking care of her until she found a permanent home.
“I had lost both my boxers in the winter,” Thompson said. “I thought I could live without a dog…that lasted all of a month.”
Arrangements were made and the next day she went to Louisville to pick up Bella.
Thompson said it was love at first sight.
“She’s been the perfect little girl,” Thompson said. “She’s never messed up anything inside, or chewed on anything.”
