Estill’s Lady Engineers had trouble getting out of the gate when they traveled to horse farm country Monday night.
A 20-8 first quarter lead by the Lady Panthers of Frankfort was too much to overcome, resulting in a 55-40 loss for Coach Mark McKinley’s ever-improving squad.
The defeat dropped the Engineers to 4-7 on the season while Frankfort ran their record to 6-9.
Estill coaches knew they faced a stiff challenge going into the game.
The Panthers had put a 72-33 whipping on Model in the Berea Holiday Classic. This was the same team Estill had taken two out of three from this season, including a 49-34 victory at home on January 2.
Chelsea Alexander was the only Lady Engineer to reach double figures against Frankfort, tossing in 16 on long-range jumpers and several hard drives to the basket against much taller opponents.
Cassidy Flynn added 8; Candace Gould, Julia Harris, and Jessie Carter 4 each, and Chelsea Honchell 1.
The Lady Engineers have a busy week ahead, facing off against Powell County on Thursday and Lee County on Friday.
Both contests are at home and tip-off for the varsity game is 7:30 p.m.
