Pauline Riddell, 88
Pauline Fredrick Turner Riddell, 88, Hoys Fork, Irvine, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009 at the Compassionate Care Center after a long illness. She was born Sept. 8, 1921 in Estill County, the daughter of the late John and Florence Riddell Turner. She was a homemaker and a member of the Thomas Baptist Church. She had lived in Estill County most of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Victor Riddell; one son, Cecil Riddell; three brothers, Joe, Raymond and Andy Turner; one son-in-law, Harold Farthing; and one daughter-in-law, Loretta Riddell.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Willis and husband Donald, Ruth Farthing, and Lorena Willis and husband Junior, all of Irvine; four sons, Marion Riddell, Richard Riddell, Jody Riddell, Robert Riddell, all of Irvine; one brother, Chelsa Turner of Norfolk, Va.; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Sherl Thomas with burial at the West Irvine Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joseph Willis, Jeremy Willis, Ray Harold Farthing, Austin McIntosh, John Turner and Gene Turner.
Brucie Estes, 81
Brucie J. Estes, 81, Irvine Health and Rehab Center, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 after a long illness. She was born Jan. 29, 1928 in Estill County, the daughter of the late Floyd and Lillie Lynch Johnson. She was retired from Carhartt Inc. and had lived in Estill County all of her life. She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bradley Estes; a daughter, Mary White; a son, Foster Dale Estes; three sisters, Modena Osborne, Dorthy Howell, and Lula Smith; a brother, Johnny Johnson; and a grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Jerry Chane with burial at the Campbell Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill Metcalf, Andy Estes, Jason Stepp, Floyd Johnson, Will Wise, Troy Johnson, Keith Dooley and Ronnie Johnson.
Sarah Barnett, 76
Sarah Jane Olinger Barnett, 76, of Stanton, died Dec. 26, 2009. She had been a long term resident of Stanton Nursing Center. She was born May 31, 1933 in Clay City, a daughter of the late James and Opal Potts Olinger. She was a housewife and a homemaker. She enjoyed attending church whenever she could. She was preceded in death by Earl Barnett; a granddaughter Cherie Barnett; and her brother Roy Olinger.
Survivors include two daughters Anita (Michael) Easter of Irvine and Lisa Powell of Florida; three sons Perry Barnett of Wickenburg AZ, Grover Steven (Betty) Barnett, Dwight (Judy) Barnett of Clay City; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a sister Ann Taylor of Ohio.
Graveside services were at Powell’s Valley Cemetery, 11 a.m.Tuesday. Arrangements by Lewis Funeral Home.
Eudell Griffin Tipton, 98
Eudell Griffin Tipton, 98, Ann Street, Irvine, widow of John Sidney Tipton, died Saturday, Dec. 26 at the Marcum-Wallace Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Estill County Aug. 24, 1911, a daughter of the late Gentry Griffin and Frances Horn Griffin. She was a teacher for 33 years, a member of Kentucky Retired Teachers, National Retired Teachers, and Estill County Retired Teachers, and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband John Sidney Tipton; a brother, Elba Griffin; six sisters Bertha Blake, Cordelia Simon, Lena Whitis, Ola Edmonson, Margaret Cartwright, Eva Webb.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews and special caregivers.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lewis Funeral Home, with Bro. Scott Rogers and Bro. Mickey Hardy officiating. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Eula Moore, 84
Eula Hardy Moore, 84, died Dec. 23, 209. She was a long-time member of Southland Christian Church, and a current member of Tates Creek Christian. She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Ida Rainey Hardy.
Survivors included her husband, Francis Leo Moore of Louisville; her children, Michael Scott Moore and wife Cassi of Palmyra, Ind., and Sandra “Sandi” Bush and husband Dan of Cantonment, Fla.; a sister, Ruth Walters of Irvine; and grandchildren, Chad Daniel Bush, Michael Scott Moore Jr., Shawn Timothy Moore and Amy Beach and husband Darrin; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Moore, Colt, Remy and Brayden Beach.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2009 at Milward-Southland with burial at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.
